At a LIVE Event on Tuesday, Apple finally launched the new Watch Series 6 with a Blood Oxygen sensor in COVID pandemic times. Apple also unveils a cheaper version of the Apple smartwatch segment, Watch SE, and an iPad Air with an industry-first A14 bionic chip.
Apple Watch Series 6 introduces an amazing Blood Oxygen feature that offers users even more insight into their overall wellness. It also comes with a new sleep app to help you track your sleep, and also feature a handwashing guide that will allow you to maintain ‘hand hygiene’ by reminding you of handwashing.

Moreover, the Oxygen saturation, or SpO2, represents the percentage of oxygen-carrying by red blood cells from the lungs to the rest of the body. Therefore, it indicates how well this oxygenated blood is being circulated throughout the body.
While launching this Watch Series 6, Apple’s chief operating officer, Jeff Williams said;
“With powerful new features, including a Blood Oxygen sensor and app, Apple Watch becomes even more indispensable by providing further insight into overall well-being.”
Apple’s new smartwatch also features an S6 System in Package (SiP) and next-generation always-on altimeter. The watchOS 7 also packed with a Family Setup, sleep tracking, automatic handwashing detection, new workout types, and the ability to curate and share watch faces. This is to encourage customers to be more active, stay connected, and better manage their health in this pandemic times.
For that, Apple also joins hands with researchers to conduct three health studies that include using Apple Watch to explore how blood oxygen levels can be used in future health applications.
Watch Series 6 Price and Availability
The Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS) comes with a price tag of Rs 40,900 ($399). Whereas, an Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular) version starts at Rs 49,900 ($499).
Notably, Apple Watch 6 pre-orders begin on September 16, and shipments start on September 18. However, Apple will not ship Watch 6 with a power adapter as part of the Cupertino giant’s new sustainability initiatives.
Apple Watch SE Price, Features, and Availability
Apple Watch SE features the same accelerometer, gyroscope, and always-on altimeter as Apple Watch Series 6. Meanwhile, this watch comes with the latest motion sensors and microphones. The Watch SE also offers robust health and safety capabilities including fall detection, Emergency SOS, international emergency calling, and the Noise app.

If we talk about Watch SE’s price, so the cheaper version called Watch SE begins from $279 globally. In India, it will be priced at Rs 29,900 (GPS version). But the Watch SE (GPS + Cellular) will be priced at Rs 33,900.
