Disclaimer: It’s not a clickbait title/article. To deactivate your Facebook account, Facebook Inc. reportedly pay some users up to 120 dollars. As per reports, the social media giant is offering money to stop using Facebook and Instagram for 4 to 6 weeks before the US elections, scheduled in November 2020.
So quit using its app for a while, and Facebook will compensate you. The initiative is a part of a study under which the company wants to understand the impact on social media on elections and voting patterns. For that, the company is now willing to pay up to $120 to each user for deactivating their Facebook account, and yeah! Instagram as well.
So Facebook is now going to pay people to deactivate their IG and FB accounts before Election Day. It’s part of the research experiment announced Monday but WOW. This notice went out this week. pic.twitter.com/tV7DAw8F5I

Eligibility for Facebook’s $120 Reward To Deactivate Facebook and Instagram Account;
This news breaks out as a paper posted a screenshot of a survey sent to some Instagram users. However, the program is not for every user. With it’s massive 2.6 billion monthly active users (MAU), the company will only choose a few ones.
And the main thing, Facebook is inviting representatives and potential participants itself to become a part of this reward program. The company expects up to 400,000 people who can take part in the same.
Deactivate Your Facebook and Instagram Account: Impact On Upcoming U.S. Elections
Facebook is no doubt about it that Facebook always got into the news before U.S. elections. This is mostly because of its policies, ads, campaign, political biases, and other controversies.
And this time also the company is under tremendous pressure as the US elections are not so far now. Last time, during the election Facebook faced heavy criticism due to the Cambridge Analytica scandal. And to settle the matter, the company has paid $5 billion in fines, whereas Cambridge Analytica had to shutter down.
Earlier this, many huge advertisers on Facebook have suspended their campaigns on the platform, which impacts the revenue so much. So this is why Facebook doesn’t want to take any chance this time.
As per the company, the study will be done by independent researchers who are not paid by Facebook. Although, the results of this research program are expected to be published in the middle of next year.
