Joe Biden has defeated Donald Trump by securing record votes in the 2020 US presidential elections. And is now officially declared as 46th President of the United States.
Before joining politics, Biden used to work as an attorney or, in simple language, a lawyer.
Joe Biden was born on November 20, 1942, in the city of Scranton, NorthEast Pennsylvania. His father Joseph Biden Sr. worked to clean furnaces and as a car salesman. And his mother’s name is Catherine Eugenia Finnegan. His father died in 2002, while his mother died in 2010.
Joe Biden’s early studies were in Paul’s Elementary School in Scranton. But 1955 his family shifted to Mayfield, Delaware. After which he attended St. Helena School school and later enrolled in the prestigious Archmere Academy. Where he used to clean school windows and gardens to earn his tuition fees.

In 1961, Biden graduated from Archmere Academy. He then enrolled at the University of Delaware near the city, where he studied history and political science as well as played football. There he met with Neilia Hunter, who studying at Syracuse University Law School. After graduating from the University of Delaware in 1965, Joe took admission to Syracuse University Law School. And in 1966, Joe Biden married Neilia Hunter.
Joe Biden’s First Wife
After graduating from law school in 1968, Biden began practicing at a law firm in the city of Willington, Delaware. There he became an active member of the Democratic Party. And in 1970 he was elected to the New Castle County Council. Working as a councilman in 1971, Biden started his own law firm.
Meanwhile, Biden had three children, Joseph Biden III (born in 1969), Hunter Biden (born in 1970), and Naomi Biden (born in 1971).
However, in 1972, the Democratic Party asked 29-year-old Biden to contest for the US Senate post. There he contests against popular Republican candidate J. Caleb Boggs. Although, Biden won the election and becomes the fifth-youngest US Senator in the country.
But in 1972, Biden’s wife and their daughter died in a car accident. Both of their sons suffered serious injuries. Because of this, he did not take part in the swearing-in ceremony of the new senators in Washington. He took the oath from the hospital itself.
Joe Biden Starts His Presidential Run
In 1987, after establishing himself as one of Washington’s most prominent Democratic lawmakers, Biden decided to stand in the US presidential election. But at the same time, Biden started having severe headache problems, later it was found out that he had a fatal brain disease. Due to which in 1988, he decided to withdraw from the elections. Biden returned to the Senate seven months later after several surgeries.
20 years later, in 2007, Biden decided to run again in the presidential elections. However, he withdrew his claim due to the popularity of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. But within a few months, after having some issues, Barack Obama elects Biden his partner in the election as a Vice President nominee. They both won in 2008.
On January 20, 2009, Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the USA. While Biden swore as the 47th Vice President. After this, both of them retained their positions in 2012 after winning the election again.
Meanwhile, in 1977, he married Jill Biden. And they have a daughter, Ashley Biden. But on 30 May 2015, Biden’s elder son died due to cancer. He is said to stand for the presidential candidacy in the 2017 elections but did not do so due to personal reasons and party discord.
On 12 January 2017, President Obama awarded Biden the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award, America’s highest civilian honor, in a surprise ceremony at the White House. There Obama called him America’s best Vice President.
After this, from 2017 onwards, he started speaking prominently against the policies of Donald Trump, the new 45th President of the country. And on 25 April 2019, he announced that he will stand in the 2020 presidential elections.
