Actor/director Olivia Wilde is joining Sony as a director. And she expected to direct a Marvel’s first Spider-Woman movie, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
As per reports Olivia Wilde has signed on to direct a female-centric Marvel movie for Sony Pictures, with the character most likely to be Spider-Woman.
However, the details are still being under wraps. But it is being a wide speculation that she will be at the helm of a movie in the Spider-verse.
Wilde may completely revamp the concept and hence it’s unclear which Spider-Woman character she will land on for her movie. Yes! if there is any so. Wilde is best known for directing the coming-of-age comedy Booksmart.
Sony still has rights for a variety of Marvel characters like Venom, Morbius, etc. It also has joint custody of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man with Disney.
But if Wilde’s film does turn out to be about Spider-Woman, people will still have to wait and see what version of the character. In the comics universe, many women have suited up over the years under that name. This list includes Mary Jane Watson, Gwen Stacy, and Julia Carpenter, but perhaps the best-known version is the original Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew. Jessica is first popped up in the comics in 1977.
