UAE new ’golden visa’ rule for PhD holders, engineers, other professions

UAE Golden Visa: Dubai approved 10 years Golden Visa extension for Ph.D. holders, doctors, engineers as well as graduate students from some universities. This move comes to attract talented people and great minds in the Gulf country.

Actually, the Golden Visa is a long-term residency program for people working or living in Dubai. This was first announced in 2019. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has now made an official announcement via Twitter.

“Brothers and sisters, we approved today a decision to grant the 10-year golden visa to residents in the following categories: all Ph.D. holders, all physicians, engineers in the fields of computer engineering, electronics, programming, electricity and biotechnology, graduates from UAE accredited universities who scored Grade Point Average, GPA, of 3.8 and above,” UAE Prime Minister said in a tweet.

UAE Golden Visa New Rules

It has been said that this announced list is of the first batch to get Golden Visa. Therefore after this many other categories can also be added to it.


Meanwhile, the UAE’s cabinet has passed this new amendment. And now the country is ready to attract experts and talented professionals from scientific disciplines of various fields. However, the new changes under the Golden Visa will be effective from December 1, 2020. In addition, the Golden Visa holders and their families will be offered 10-year residency visas.
