Delhi has become the first Indian city where the ride-hailing giant, Uber launches 100 e-rickshaws on its App/Platform. These electric vehicles have been deployed across 26 Delhi Metro stations. Moreover, the option offers sustainable & cheap mobility for riders for better last-mile connectivity or short-distance commutes.
After the government eased up the lockdown, people start traveling via the metro across Delhi. Therefore, to ease the comfort of the people, Uber has introduced the e-rickshaw on the Uber app. However, the Riders will be able to book the micro-mobility on the Uber app from Tuesday.
List of Delhi Metro Stations with Uber e-rickshaws service;
Firstly, Uber’s e-rickshaws service will be available across the following 26 stations on Delhi Metro’s blue line:
- Ashok Park Main,
- Dabri Mor,
- ESI Basaidarapur,
- Janakpuri East,
- Janakpuri West,
- Kanhaiya Nagar Metro,
- Keshav Puram,
- Moti Nagar,
- Paschim Vihar East,
- Punjabi Bagh West,
- Rajouri Garden,
- Ramesh Nagar,
- Satguru Ram singh Marg,
- Shastri Nagar,
- Shivaji Park,
- Subhash Nagar,
- Tagore Garden,
- Tilak Nagar,
- Uttam Nagar East,
- Uttam Nagar West,
- Kirti Nagar.
Meanwhile, for this amazing last-mile connectivity service, the company said;
“As millions of Indians begin moving again therefore Uber aims to make urban commutes more affordable. Additionally, this commute will be more efficient, and eco-friendly, helping cities ‘Build back better’. In other words, Delhi residents will now be able to complete their journey seamlessly.”
The development comes after Uber announces its new commitment. The commitment is to make all rides on its platform 100 percent emission-free by 2040. This is a global commitment by the company. In addition, the goal will be achive by adding zero-emission vehicles and the integration of public transport and micro-mobility.
Delhi Is Facing Air Pollution Crisis
Similarly, the move becomess more important since Delhi is already suffering from poor air quality problems. As per 2019 IQAir rankings, Delhi ranks 5th in the list of the most polluted cities in the world. Above all, these steps are really in favor of Delhi.
Meanwhile, these Uber e-rickshaws have a seating capacity of 4 people and also have a top speed of 25 km/h. Although, Uber had already announced its partnership with Lithium Urban Technologies (LUT). LUT is is India’s largest electric vehicle fleet operator.
Moreover, under this partnership, they will deploy over 1,000 electric vehicles (EV). Firstly, this includes all sedans, across Uber Rentals and Premier. However, these cabs will make available in selected cities, for now, which includes Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune.
