The most powerful figures in tech were hit with tough questions and documents that raised concerns about their competitive tactics during a high-profile antitrust hearing last night on Wednesday. The Congress hearing turned out to be a ruthless probe in the workings of 4 of the biggest companies in the world.

The tech titans, which included the CEOs of Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), Facebook (FB) and Google (GOOGL), some fared better than others in the first hours of the hearing.

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook managed to provide satisfactory answers to some questions, the company’s App Store became the scapegoat, which was questioned for not just its commission structure but also for suppressing competition.

And when it comes to Jeff Bezos, founder of, he admits stolen and counterfeit goods being sold on Amazon & also he seemed to be unsure of the seller verification process.

Also during the US Congress grilling that lasted for over six and a half hours approximately, new emails being cited by members of the congress reveal that Mark Zuckerberg perceived Instagram and Path as threats to the company, eventually leading up to the acquisition of the former.

Interestingly, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai seemed clearly prepared for the Congress Antitrust committee meeting, But Mr. Pichai also seemed to fall back on the same corporate lines every time he was backed into a corner, saying, “Google deeply cares about the privacy and security of our users”.
